It's written by Mariko Tamaki and drawn by Jillian Tamaki
They really nailed what being a highschool girl is like. They subtly and brilliantly show what it is like to be best friends with a person you hate, how everyone around you is stupid and everything annoys you. Forbidden crushes, the day to day numbness of classes and the latent panic of realizing you have no idea what is happening in any of them. It is almost unsettling to me how much I related to this book. It is rare I ever read a comic and am able to turn the editor in my brain off and just enjoy the book. hours after I finished Skim I realized that I didn't once analyze what I was looking at. I've been trying to think of a comic that I've ever been this excited about, and I just can't.

I finally got around to finishing this drawing of my DnD character in her new armor. I really liked this when I started it about a month ago. Then I got distracted and forgot about it till today. I already kind of hate it now, but eh, it is finished.

Did another commission for that guy who wanted the Mortician drawing. This one is for a homebrew DnD Prestige class called the Soul Binder. Mr Blue here has himself a blue soul, which makes him an icey badass. This drawing fought me at almost every stage, so it took longer than I would have liked. But all in all I'm pleased with the end result.

I am trying to break into the "Draw my DnD character for money please!" market.
I let the guy choose from a few roughs I drew up for his Soul Binder. Here are the two he rejected:
Yellow Soul
Red soul

I really like the Yellow guy though, so I might draw that one just for fun anyway. Oh, I ended up doing a head shot of ms red. Just for sanity's sake a few days ago.

In other news, Ron is home again! ^_^

So... This is a DnD drawing technically, but not anything from our campaign. I found this class called Mortician. Morticians can heal people, but they also command undead armies. Well, it is pretty gruesome and for some reason intrigued me. I almost always draw cute things. So I drew a mortician in an attempt to stretch myself. Try to create a moody atmosphere, draw a creepy guy, etc.

Mortician

Also, I'm a bit late in blogging it, but I got a mention on MSNBC. =) I guess one of their reporters was at Emerald City Con, and he liked my stuff. I took so long blogging this that the article is down now, but this is the blerb that concerned me: "The lines are also long to buy original artwork from dozens of best illustrators in the business, such as Tim Sale, Andy Kuhn and Northwest product Susan Tardif, who operates out of Portland-based "Periscope Studios." She describes her style as more cartoony.”
I'm pretty excited, even if it is just a sentence, and a quote that makes me sound like a doofus. =) National news is national news.
