I recently finished this cover for a fake romance comics line. One of the most girly things I've done, needless to say I enjoyed working on it.

So this week, today, January 6th, at 7:30 PST, she'll be talking to Cat and I. Come check it out, and if you miss it live you can still watch the recording here.

Militia   I like this one because I imagine he takes his job way too seriously. A lot like a hall monitor. He is a very serious fellow.  Also, I gave him a doofy hat. =)

I also drew a peasant and a thief.

Rich and I have completed the first chapter and vignette of our comic, The Ravens' Gambit.  Check it out at www.ravensgambit.com. It is a comedic heist adventure story in a fantasy setting. There will be 6 chapters in all. We hope to find a publisher, but in the meantime are self publishing. It debuted at SPX, and I am happy to report I sold out. ^_^

So James and Cat chose to draw ninjas this week to balance out the Pirates that were drawn last week. Following that logic, I had no choice but to not draw this week's ninjas. After all, I didn't draw a pirate, and the balance of the internet is at stake. =)

Ron made me a snazzy new website! What is even better than a more professional look and new content? I can update and add to the galleries all by myself. Hooray for the ease of Wordpress.

Now if we could just figure out how to get the slide show function to work... Ah well.

And if it is it is all [info]spanambula's fault. So there.
Anyway, what I am talking about is James, Cat and I are supposed to be doing weekly drawings and posting on Fridays. However James told me on Friday, while they knew for several days. So here is my drawing, not late. =P

I read Skim yesterday. It is easily one of the best comics I've ever read. It's written by Mariko Tamaki and drawn by Jillian Tamaki
They really nailed what being a highschool girl is like.  They subtly and brilliantly show what it is like to be best friends with a person you hate, how everyone around you is stupid and everything annoys you.  Forbidden crushes, the day to day numbness of classes and the latent panic of realizing you have no idea what is happening in any of them. It is almost unsettling to me how much I related to this book. It is rare I ever read a comic and am able to turn the editor in my brain off and just enjoy the book. hours after I finished Skim I realized that I didn't once analyze what I was looking at. I've been trying to think of a comic that I've ever been this excited about, and I just can't.

I drew another picture of one of the main characters from the comic Rich Ellis and I are collaborating on. She is a Swashbuckler, and the leader of our group of thieves.  Branwynn
One of these days we'll get a website up for the comic. We are hoping to have the first issue (there will be 6 total) done for SPX in October.

So I drew myself a lady's head tonight. And I gave her freckles, because freckles are cute. This is a lot more realistic than I usually draw. I like it. ^_^
